Avenue of the Giants
The 31-mile road, known as the Avenue of the Giants in Northern California, is one of the more beautiful drives we have experienced. On our way to Redwoods National Park we stopped for a day to enjoy the ‘southern’ part of the Redwoods.
We decided to visit the Founders Grove which was about 10 miles from the RV Park where we stayed. While our RV park was located on Avenue of the Giants, it was only 2 or 3 miles from the exit off of US 101. I do not recommend driving a large RV on this road. Park the RV and explore in the Jeep like we did.

On the morning of our day along Avenue of the Giants I did a hike in Humboldt State Park into a different Redwood grove.
Nursery log over a small stream. When redwoods fall, as they slowly decay, they provide a ‘nursery’ for trees and plants by providing the nutrients needed to quickly grow.
This will be our first stop in the redwoods with the next stop on the north end of their range. Our daughter Kellie and our youngest grandkids will join us.
